If you know my story, you know that String Theory exists as my response to 9/11. So it seems like the perfect time of year to celebrate our power to create peace.
The original 2017 Peace Will Come cowl was designed by Ann Weaver with Three Irish Girls Adorn Lux. This year she has adapted the pattern for the thicker (and cozier) sportweight cashmere that has been handspun in Afghanistan and a double strand of silk mohair, hand dyed as part of an immigrant integration program in Norway.
The cowl is easy and satisfying for knitters of all levels.
The kit includes:
- one skein of Afghan Cashmere Sportweight (273 yards)
- two cakes of Garnsurr Silk Mohair (225 yards each)
- printed copy of Peace will Come (from Afghanistan to Norway) pattern with code to download a copy of the original pattern for free from Ravelry.
You will also need a 24″ US#8 needle.
10% of the sales from this kit will be donated to the Southern Poverty Law Center, an organization dedicated to monitoring hate groups and teaching tolerance in the United States.
My own life is all I can hope to control. Let my life be lived for the good, good of my soul. Let it bring peace, sweet peace. Peace will come. Let it begin with me. Lyrics by Tom Paxton.
