This is a one-night class with no homework. You will be creating 4 swatches in class, each with a different cast on and bind off. You will be tagging your squares for future reference as we go, complete with an instructional internet reference – so that you will never forget.

size 8 knitting needles, size F or G crochet hook, and a tapestry needle – yarn will be provided

Learn:
identify and repair drop stitches, twisted stitches and accidental increases without ripping out rows.
Homework:
Make two swatches with #8 or larger needles and some smooth yarn in worsted weight. Cast on 15 stitches. First Swatch: Knit 4 inches in garter stitch. Second Swatch: Knit 4 inches in stockinet stitch. Leave your work on the needles and bring them with you. We’ll be using these to practice knit fixes.
Materials:
Knit Fix book, light colored worsted weight yarn, size 8 needles, crochet hook

Churchmouse sock pattern, 2 skeins Felted Tweed(or equivalent DK yarn), two sets of size 3 DPNs (so you can have two socks going at once). If you are very comfortable with DPNs you can use 100 grams of sock yarn and size 1 or 2 DPNs

Learn: 
3-needle bind-off, slipping edge stitches, how a garment is constructed, how to use a swatch to ensure a good fit.
Materials:
Size 7 – 32 inch circular needles, 780 – 1300 yards of worsted or aran weight yarn depending on size (check pattern — sizes S through 2X sizes), 7 stitch holders, one button, Deb Vest pattern or Seamless Knits book, tapestry needle for weaving in ends.
Homework:
 Make gauge swatch (CO 24 stitches and knit every row for 32 rows, then wash it) to make sure you have gauge of 18 stitches/28 rows for 4 inches in garter – see String Theory staff for assistance if you have not done this before.

Our Registration Policy:

All classes are held at String Theory Yarn Co. Most classes are limited to 8 people in order to ensure that everyone gets individual attention. Payment for each class is due at registration. If String Theory cancels the class for any reason, we will refund your registration fee.  If you cancel at least one week prior to your scheduled class, you will receive a store credit for your registration fee. If you cancel less than a week prior to the class, you will receive store credit only if we are able to fill your spot.  Unfortunately, we are unable to provide make-ups.
