Hand Crafted Gifts that you don’t have to make yourself
Many of you prefer to give Handmade gifts at the holidays, but I know there isn’t always time to make them yourself. Luckily, we have two opportunities to help you out in November.
Mark your calendars. You don’t want to miss these.
Connections Jewelry Show:
Saturday November 3 and Sunday November 4
We carry sterling silver shawl pins and precious beaded stitch markers all the time, but once a year, Jerry and Susan Schurmeier (my very talented parents) bring their entire inventory of pins, bracelets, necklaces and earrings to String Theory. This is the perfect time to buy gifts and something special for yourself.
We’ve had lots of show and tell behind the scenes this year, and I can tell you that you are going to love the selection. Bring your friends. You don’t have to knit, to love jewelry!
4th Annual Scarf Market:
Friday November 23 – Saturday December 29
Every year during the holiday season, we set up our Scarf Market to sell hundreds of beautiful/whimsical/manly scarves. Because the scarves have been made and donated by our talented customers, we are able to turn over every dollar raised to a local charity. In the last three years we’ve contributed over $13,000.
This year the money will go to the Dupage Homeownership Center. DHOC is a nonprofit organization located in DuPage County, IL that provides a full range of free services to promote responsible sustainable homeownership, with an emphasis on serving first-time homebuyers, low- and moderate-income households and counseling homeowners in crisis. More than 1200 children in DuPage County are homeless, many due to foreclosure. DHOC is on the front lines of homelessness prevention by helping DuPage county homeowners in default or foreclosure work with their lender to obtain a resolution and remain in their home.
Please spread the word that String Theory is a great place to shop for homemade gifts for the holidays.
